5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful, Witchy Tale!, August 2, 2012

The Not So Wicked, Wicked Witch is a wonderful children's book about a Witch that really isn't all that she looks like. This short story is an excellent read for beginners and it shares an awesome message through rhyming. With the society we live in these days, it is easy for young children to see things at face value before they are taught or learn not to judge because someone looks, acts, or seems different. It is scary to me, to think that there are so many children learning by example from parents, friends, and/or guardians that would rather judge, ignore, and belittle before they even take the time to find out anything about the person or persons they are judging. Amy Carter, hits the nail on the proverbial head of the judgmental ideal and pounds it into oblivion in a way that children can understand. This is a terrific story and one that I will be sharing, re-reading, and talking about for a long time to come!

The illustrations are spot on and fun. The pictures are catchy and each time I look at them I find something new and that is the sign of a great illustrator!

I have a niece and nephew that are four and I know that they are going to enjoy and love this little book! So check out this wonderful witch and you won't be turned into a toad!

Author Interview:

What is the title of your book? "The Not So Wicked, Wicked Witch!"

What is your book about? It is about a witch that tries to live up to her witchy image but is kind, fun, mischievous, and loving, not to mention "not so wicked"! She is not your average, run of the mill witch and has a heart of gold.

Why did you decide to write it? The idea came to mind in college--I always loved witches--but not bad ones or scary ones. So I created "the witch" with a special flare for fun and a love of happy things--including my favorite color--PINK.

How did you get your book published? I heard about Outskirts Press and contacted them to see if they were interested. Fortunately they were, and we started the process immediately! Sarah Markham, the illustrator, did an amazing job bringing the witch to life for me!

What types of readers will be interested in your book? The book is for children ages 3-10, but also there has been an interest from adults (females) in the witch. I feel that it is in the character because we (females) all have a fun, mischievous side!

What is special about your book? What differentiates it from other books in the same category? The fact that the witch isn't evil or scary is so appealing. When reading to different groups at schools, the children all comment that they lover her because she has a big heart and isn't frightening. They also like the "sparkle" to the normal witch's attire.

Have you published any other books? Not at this point.

Do plan to publish more? Yes, I would like to have a sequel to the witch book. I have written several other rhyming books that I have not yet pursued with publishing.

Historical Romances are exciting, thrilling, and they can get your blood pumping as well as if you were running a mile. Terry Blain is a stupendous storyteller. You can tell from her attention of the smallest details to the historical facts she includes in her books that she absolutely loves what she does for a living.

Colorado Silver, Colorado Gold is a wonderful love story about the struggles of early Western America and the triumphs the hero and heroine face together and individually. Juliette and Wes are characters that you can instantly fall in love with and continue to root for even after you are done reading. I was really sad to see the book come to a close but only because I wanted to know more of what those two might get into next.

If you enjoy a wonderful love story wrapped in an early American setting then this is definitely the book for you. Once I started reading Ms. Blaine's book, I could not put it down! Enjoy!

Blurb: To protect her sister, Juliette Lawson stole documents and fled west. Now Wes Westmoreland, undercover lawman, threatens both her plan and her heart.

Synopsis: Socialite Juliette Lawson fled west from Philadelphia on a train and in disguise. In Colorado she'd be safe; she'd take work with her uncle at the Rio d'Oro, his smelting operation. Her actions back east had been wrong, but to protect her pregnant sister from scandal she would have done anything. Then she met a man as hungry for answers as she was for independence. A handsome, honorable man. For him, she wished the truth was hers to tell. From the first, Wes Westmoreland knew he couldn't trust her. Having grown up in the saloons and brothels of San Francisco, he saw trust, like love, as a luxury an undercover lawman couldn't afford. Not on a job like this one, not with gold involved. This woman dressed as a widow was clearly hiding something; he'd felt it the moment they touched. But he'd felt other things too, stirrings in his heart, and for the first time ever, he saw riches worth the peril.

Terry Irene Blain

Bio: Terry Irene Blain was lucky enough to grow up in a large Mid-western family with a rich oral tradition. As a child she heard stories of ancestors’ adventures with Indians, wildlife, weather and frontier life in general, so she naturally gravitated to the study of history and completed a BA and MA then taught the subject at the college level. Married to a sailor, now retired, she’s had the chance to live in various parts of the U.S. and has traveled to Hong Kong, Australia, England and Scotland.

“My degrees and my teaching experience make me a natural to write historical romance. Writing historical romance gives me the opportunity to pass on stories of who we are and where we come from while exploring the relationship between men and women. What could be more exciting than that?”
